Services for Elsie Rena (Fee) Welch, 78, of Pleasantville formerly of Knoxville, who died Nov. 13, 1987 at Pleasant Care Nursing Center in Pleasantville, were held Nov. 16 at Williams Funeral Home.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery. Pastor David Clark officiated at the services. Music was provided by Nora DeReus, organist, and John Crawford, vocalist.

Pallbearers were Clark Brubaker, John Marsh, Don and Abe Synhorst, John Fee, and Warren Whaley Honorary bearers were Leona Cline, lone Glenn, Bessie Kenney, Phyllis Moats, Mabel Gill, Mary Hindman, Elsie King, and Lucille Willetts.

Mrs. Welch was born May 23, 1909 in Marion County, the daughter of Daniel W. and Alta Clark Fee

She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1927.
On Dec. 24, 1931, she married Myron C. Welch.

She received her B.S. in Education and her Elementary Principal's Certificate in 1952 and her Master's Degree in 1958. She taught a total of 42 years before retiring from Twin Cedars after being employed there for 16 years. Following retirement, they lived in Arizona until she became ill in March, 1983.

She was a member of the Christian Church, a 50 year member of Marion Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Iowa State Teachers Association, and Knoxville Area Retired Teachers Association

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Ruth; one brother, Robert Clark; and one foster brother, Earl Stuerner.

She is shrived by her brother-in-law and his wife, Wyatt and Nell Welch of Knoxville; one sister-in-law and her husband, Vera and Clair VanGilst; their son and daughter and cousins; and her god-children. Sabioth and Nicholas Sogaard of Grand Forks, ND.
