Services for George Vernon Horsman, 71, of Knoxville, who died Nov. 5 1987 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, were held Nov. 7 at Williams Funeral Home.
The interment was in Dunreath Cemetery, Marion County.
Elder Arthur Nichols officiated at the services. Music was provided by Darlene Mooberry organist, and Stephanie Young, soloist.
Pallbearers were Conrad and Walter Donahue, Jack Heden, Marion Kingery, Jerry Munson, Clyde Williams, and Carroll Worthington. Honorary bearers were Lucky Laughlin and Gene Stotts.
Mr. Horsman was born Aug. 5, 1916, at Reasnor, the son of Marion and Clara Leo Buttrey O'Connor. In his early life, his mother married Raymond Horsman who later adopted him.
He was a World War II veteran, a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Temple in Des Moines, Scottish Rite Bodies, and Marion County Shriners, and was baptized in the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather.
He is survived by his mother, Leo Horsman of Knoxville; two daughters, Mrs. Dean (Pamela Rae) Dawson of Knoxville and Mrs. Jim (Susan) Loeb of LaPorte City; and three grandsons.
A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
