Barbara Jean (Karr) Spaur/Allen, age 63, of Knoxville passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at her residence in Knoxville.

Visitation for Barb will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4th, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Barb’s family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Barb was born in Knoxville, Iowa on October 24, 1954, the daughter of Merritt and Wilma (Stokes) Karr.
She graduated from Knoxville High School and later continued her education obtaining a Respiratory Therapy degree.

Barb worked as a Respiratory Therapist for many years at the Knoxville Hospital and later worked for Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella until she retired from the workforce in 2016.

Barb was united in marriage to Leslie Spaur, to this union two sons were born, Michael Ross and Kelly Dale. Barb and Les eventually divorced. In time, Barb re-married to Ross Allen. Their relationship later dissolved.

Barb loved being outdoors. She enjoyed camping and fishing. She was very self-sufficient and was very well-liked. Barb was a great cook.

Barb is survived by her son, Michael Ross Spaur (Adri) of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Skylar, Colton, Riley, Luke, and Reece; one great-grandson, Zadik; and two nieces, one nephew, and many other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Kelly Dale Spaur (b.1/2/1998-d.1/6/2017); parents, Merritt and Wilma Karr; and one brother, Laverne Merritt Karr (b.Nov 30, 1941-d.June 14, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family of Barb Spaur.
