Services for Larry Joe Porter, 53, Knoxville, who died on July 25, 1993, at his
home in Knoxville, were July 29, 1993, at the Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville.

Larry Porter was killed while working at the Knoxville races. A race car flipped and rolled killing Larry Porter and the flagman.

Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

The Rev. Aaron McCombs officiated
at the service. Music was provided by Mildred Brooks. Pallbearers were Roger Wardenburg,
Rick Van Donsler, Robert Hanawalt, Ralph Capitani, Tom Lane, Tod Elam, Jim Carter
and Mike Fisher. Honorary pallbearers Charles Beaver and Harley Shilling.

Larry
was born on April 30, 1940, in Dallas, the son of Joseph Leo and Opal Cleo “Wheaton”
Porter.

He was employed with the Ford, garage for 22 years and was an integral part ofLarry Porter
the Knoxville Raceway. Over the past 30 years, Larry was Involved at the raceway
in a variety of capacities as an official and an official watchdog. He was preceded
in death by his parents.

Survivors include three sisters, Opal Oaks of Scotia, N.Y., Joella M. Snook of Knoxville
and Donna L. Stockley of Earlville, Ill.; and seven nieces and nephews. Memorials
may be made to the American Heart Association or the Knoxville Hall of Fame and
Museum.

The Bybee and Davis Funeral Home in Knoxville was in charge of the arrangements.
