Gary Dennis Long, of Knoxville, who passed away January 17, 1979 at Collins Memorial
hospital, were held January 19 at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home.

Dr. Leonard E. Deaver officiated at the services. Organist Anna Oscarson.Pallbearers
were Steve Long, Dave Bunnell, Charles Brooks, Bill Shepherd, Jim Reed, and Dan
Fall. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

Gary Dennis Long, son of Glenn and Georgia Applegate Long, was born on Sept. 21.
1944 at Chariton, Ia. Gary attended the Attica schools until his junior and senior
year in high school when he came to Knoxville and graduated with the Class of 1963.
While in high school he was a member of the varsity basketball team.

Following graduation,
he enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa for the 1963-1964 school year.
He attended Northwest Misouri State College at Marysville for a year. He returned
to Knoxville and was employed by the Telephone Co. and then later the Army Corps
of Engineers. where he worked for nine years. He took a postion with Burrell Associates
as an appraiser in 1976.

On June 12, 1970, he was united in marriage to Diana Algood of Oskaloosa. The couple
made their home in Knoxville and to this union was born a son. Jason. Gary was a
member of the United Methodist Church of Knoxville at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife Diana of Knoxville; his son, Jason at home; his mother,
Mrs. Georgia Long, also of Knoxville.
