Gregory Mahlon Reidel was born on September 24, 1947.
Funeral services for Greg M. Reidel, who passed away on January 20, 1979, at his home
in Knoxville were held on January 23, 1979, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He had made Knoxville his home for most of his life and graduated from Knoxville High School in the Class of 1965. He was a registered nurse at the Veterans Medical Center in
Knoxville.
He attended Centerville Junior college for one year and entered in the
US Army in 1967 and served under combat conditions in Viet Nam. He was highly decorated during his military assignment in Asia.
Upon his discharge, he joined the Army Reserve and continued his education, graduating
from Burlington Medical Center School of Nursing in the Class of 1972 as a registered
nurse. He advanced to the Rank of 1st Lt. and at present was holding the rank of
Head Nurse with the 830th Station Hospital, US Army Reserve.
Greg had been employed by the VA Medical Center in Knoxville for the past five years.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; son, Thomas of Melcher; two step-daughters,
Melissa and Wendy are at home; his mother, Leona Reidel, of Knoxville, and his sister, Mrs. Jerry (Veronica) Glass.
