Delmar Fabian Hoch, the third of eleven children, was born February 1, 1939 at home in Knoxville, Iowa to Gilbert and Coletta Ripperger Hoch. He attended country school near Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1956. After he served in the Air Force he worked at Firestone and farmed.

Delmar married Gloria Pitt on December 21, 1979. They made their home in Melcher-Dallas. Delmar worked hard for many years farming and working at Firestone. After retiring he enjoyed tinkering around home with all his toys: the lawn mowers, tractors, golf carts and anything that would fit in one of his storage sheds. Despite his "gruff" exterior, people who knew him knew he was giving and had a heart of gold.

He would do anything for anyone. Later in life he loved to watch sports and was an avid Hawkeye fan, liked football, and was a fan of watching tennis. He even had a great love for the dogs in his life.

Nothing compared to his love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would light up at the thought of seeing them and being able to give them rides on the golf cart.

Delmar passed away suddenly on September 28, 2016 at the age of 77 years. Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughters: Pam and Chris; great grand daughter, Paisley; siblings: Alberta and Garould; and son-in-law, Bob Kaplan.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; children:Sherrie (Doug) Marshall of Knoxville, Brenda (Ed) Komarek of Knoxville, and Richard (Kara) Cooper; 9 grandchildren: Kim, Aubrey, John, Joel, Ashley, Alec, Leisha, Kevin, and Chris; and 19 great grandchildren.
