Funeral services for Larry Lee Hancock, 60, of Sioux City, who died July 7, at his
home, were held July 10, 1997, at Mayflower Congregational Church in Sioux City.
Burial was at Logan Park Cemetery. The Rev. Laird Keever officiated at the services.
Pallbearers were Ron Bandza, Les Major, Mike McCormick, Bill Blankenship, Larry
Nelson and Mark Skaff.
Larry was born June 30, 1937, in Des Moines, the son of Knoefel
"Skip" and Olga "Bergie" Bergstrom Hancock. He grew up in Knoxville, and graduated
from Knoxville High School in 1955.
He attended criminology courses at various colleges
throughout the country. He worked for Maytag in Newton, then moved to Sioux City
and worked for Omar Bakeries and. Kern Advertising. He joined the Sioux City Police
Department in 1964, and retired in 1993. He was a member of the Iowa State Police
Association and the Chiefs of Police Association.
He was also a member of the Mayflower
Congregational Church, and the Tyrian Masonic Lodge #508, A.F.& A.M.
He was united
in marriage to Connie M. Hepp on November 16, 1985, in Elk Point, S.D. He was preceded
in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Michael of Sioux
City, Jeffrey of Fort Dodge, and Jerry of Mission Viejo, Calif.; a twin brother,
Jerry of Fort Dodge; and five grandchildren.
