Funeral services for Jack Dale Gullion, who died September 4, 1978, in
an accidental drowning, were held September 6 at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines.
Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens in Des Moines.
Jackie Dale Gullion was born
December 13, 1937, the son of Charley and Vina (Tusing) Gullion, in Monroe County,
Iowa. Jack's parents both died when he was a young child. He and his sister were
raised by an aunt and uncle. He lived most of his life around Marion County, except
for the time he served in the U.S. Navy. He attended Knoxville Public Schools.
In
December of 1969 he was united in marriage to Sandra Carter of Knoxville. At this
time, he moved to the Des Moines area. He was employed at John Deere Company in
Ankeny.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers and two
sisters and his uncle. He is survived by Sandra, daughter Vicki, and son Timothy
(Tim) of Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. William (Lois) Vander Ecken of Melcher; his
aunt, Mrs. Fern Oaks of Albia; and four nephews.
