Michael Dean Followill was born on November 3, 1959 at Des Moines, Iowa to Donald Eugene Gulling and Maryella Renae (Parsons).
As a child, his mother married Alvin Wayne “Shorty” Followill and was raised as his son.
“Mike” attended school in the Knoxville Public Schools through the seventh grade. He worked several years at the Knoxville livestock sale barn and later as a painter.
Mike was united in marriage with Sandra Ball in August of 1984 at the Apostolic Church in Knoxville, and to this union four children were born: Racheal Lynnette, Sonja Marie, Michael Dean and Charles Wayne.
Later in 1999 Mike married Kimberly Ann Kelsey. Mike loved to hunt and fish.
He passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2018, at the age of 58.
He is survived by his four children, Racheal and Doug Ebelsheiser of Pella; Sonja and John Morris of Winona, MO; Michael Followill of Des Moines; and Charles Followill of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; brothers, David Gulling of Houston, TX; David and Alice Followill of New Hampton, IA; John and Brenda Followill; Jason Followill; Damon and Holly Followill, all of Des Moines, IA; and sister, Penny and Vince Jones of Pella.
He is also survived by Kim and her two daughters, Holly and Tiffany.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, brother, Donald Franklin Gulling, sister-in-law, Dorothy Gulling and niece, Nicole Johnston.
