Jack William Bailey was born July 23, 1925, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of William
Harvey Bailey and Gladys (Stillsworth) Bailey.

Following graduation from Knoxville.
In High School, Jack joined the United States Navy on July 19, 1943, and was honorably
discharged on March 3, 1952, after serving in WWII and the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to JoAnn Grabow and the two were married for 30 years. Jack was later
united in marriage to Hattie (Harper) Bailey on May 3, 1980, in Knoxville.

Jack worked at the VA Hospital as a dental tech for 36 years until his retirement in 1985.

Following his retirement, Jack enjoyed volunteering at the VA to call BINGO numbers and serve
coffee. He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW, and the American Dental
Association.

Jack was also a member of the Blue Lodge Shrine of Des Moines, Mystic
Shrine of Knoxville and the Isetta’s Hillbilly Clan 112 of Marion County. Hattie
and Jack played Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for 30 years.

Jack passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Park Lane Village at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 17 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Hattie; former wife, JoAnn; grandson,
Stacy White; brothers, Thomas and John; 3 sisters, Betty in infancy, Bonnie and Patty.

Survivors include his children, Dennis Jack (Sylvia) Bailey of Beaufort,Jack Bailey
SC, Ronald Charles “Chub” (Lillian) Bailey of Columbiana, OH, Corlinda (Jim) Evans
of  Knoxville, Marty (Robert) Cline of Winterset, Karin (Mike) Sparks of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren,
17 great-grandchildren, and one on the way, 1 great-great-grandchild,
along with many friends.
