Duane Moore Conrey Sr, 97, passed away on December 31, 2021, after a long bout with Parkinson’s.

He was born September 8th, 1924 in Knoxville, IA to Marion Albert and Ella Athalia Conrey.
He was a WWII veteran, enlisting in the Coast Guard on October 26, 1942, at age 18. He was discharged on October 15, 1945. During this time he witnessed the original flag raising on Iwo Jima.

In February 1950 he enlisted in the Army National Guard through February 1953 leaving after obtaining the rank of Sgt First Class.

One of Duane’s greatest strengths was his love of learning, which he passed on to his children.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, 3 brothers, 6 sisters, and his wife (Madeline Jeanne) of 60 years.Duane Conrey

He is survived by his children, Theron (Sue), Leslie Miller(Tom), and Duane Jr.(Bev); 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.

He will be interred at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6th at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Dr., Des Moines, Iowa.

There will be a light lunch following at the Sunset Memorial Chapel.
