WILMA ANN THOMPSON of Santa Rosa, CA, passed away on January 9, 2018. Wilma was born in Centerville, IA on November 12, 1935 to parents Clarence and Ferol Dee Chamberlain.
She grew up on an Iowa farm and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1953. She continued her education at the Airline Personnel Training School in Omaha, NE, and began her career at Bankers Life Insurance Co. in Des Moines, IA.
In 1954 on October 10, she married the love of her life Lawrence (Larry) Thompson.
Wilma and Larry began their life together in Ankeny, IA and had the good fortune to grow their careers and family in many cities and states across the Midwest and West. To this partnership and union 2 sons, Michael and Mark were born.
As a home-maker, book-keeper, secretary, and finally, artist, Wilma accompanied Larry through his career of 32 years with International Harvester and into retirement when they chose to finally settle in Santa Rosa.
Wilma was proceeded in death by Larry a short four months before departing this world to join him in eternal life.
She is survived by their sons Michael Scott (Mary), granddaughter, Taylor Nicole, Concord, CA; Mark Carroll (Xiaoling), grandsons, Thaddeus Roy, Elburn, IL, Rocky Chang, Tracy, CA; and sister Mary Lou Symmonds, Tulare, CA; and brother Clarence Chamberlain, Jr. (CJ), Grandview, TX; many cousins, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
The help and support of Wilma's many friends provided great comfort and caring during these past months of Larry's battle with cancer and grief at his loss.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 3:30 pm with a dinner following at First United Methodist Church, 1551 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa, CA.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Wilma's memory may be made to the First United Methodist Foundation of Santa Rosa, CA.
