William Lee Larson, age 81 passed away June 30, 2020, in San Antonio, TX.

He was born in Corbin, KY. On August 11, 1938, to William and Marjorie Larson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather & friend to all. His kindness, generosity, and humor will be dearly missed by all.

A 1957 graduate of Knoxville High school, IA. He served as a member of the United States Army from 1958 until his retirement in 1978 as a Chief Warrant Officer. He served in Colorado, Korea, Oklahoma, Germany (twice), Washington, Japan, Texas, Vietnam (twice), Kentucky, and Kansas. He then owned the Chevron full-service gas station on Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX. Until he retired again in 2007.

Will was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He served on the Financial and Pastoral Counsel, he also was a Lay Eucharistic Minister and greeted parishioners as an Usher.
Mr. Larson was preceded in death by his parents and son, Cory Lee Larson on July 6, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Gladys B. Larson whom he married on June 4, 1988: three children Curt Larson (Kim) of San Antonio, TX., Cris Larson (Ginger) of San Antonio, TX., Becky Darnell (Jim) of Knoxville, IA.: two step-children Lynn McMahon of San Antonio, TX., Bobby Collins of San Antonio, TX.: 10 grandchildren, Nicole Larson (Jason), Ryan Larson (Lacee), Sunny Perez (Kenon), Dylan Larson (Savannah), Audrey Larson, Emma Larson, Landry Larson, Austin Darnell (Taylor), Dallas Darnell, Wyatt Darnell: three step-grandchildren: Shannon Barney, Brett Barney (Stacy), Bryce Collins: five great-grandchildren Charlotte Larson, Magnolia Larson, Layla Perez, Cory Larson, Kinsley Darnell: four step-great-grandchildren, Jacob Barney, Grant Barney, Andrea Barney, Keelee Barney.

He is also survived by one brother, Mike Larson (Dorothy) of Knoxville, IA, and two sisters Mary Thornburgh (Mike) of Hampton, IA., and Diane DeWitt (Bob) of Coralville, IA.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be 9:45 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2020, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4411 Moana. The private burial will follow at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
