William Cooper May, 70, died February 14, 1997, in Carlsbad, Bill was born June
22, 1926, in Knoxville, and graduated from Knoxville High School.

After graduation,
he served in the U.S. Army, in the European theater during World War II. He was
sent to be part of the forces in occupied Japan. He also served in the Korean War
as an instructor.

He was associated with May Brothers Store in Columbia, and also
with Spahn and Rose Lumber Co. in Knoxville. In 1964, he and his family moved to
Carlsbad, N.M., where he was a purchasing agent for Amax Chemical Corporation.

He
is survived by his wife, Mary Anne; a daughter, Carol Ann; a sister, Martha Anderson;
and two grandchildren.
