Wendy Lawana (Dunkin) Comer age 52, of rural Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Monday morning, May 11, 2015, at her home.
A memorial service for Wendy will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, May 17, 2015, at her residence at 723 Quebec St., rural Knoxville, IA 50138. Pastor Brent Hanna officiating.
Wendy’s family will be greeting friends and offering a luncheon Sunday from 12:00 Noon, until service time.
Wendy was born in Pella, Iowa on July 1, 1962, the daughter of Richard Vern “Dick” and Winnie Joan Alice (Larew) Dunkin. Wendy was raised in Harvey and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1980.
On November 28, 1981, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Wendy and Gary Comer were united in marriage. They shared 33 years of marriage and were blessed with three children, Justin, Joshua, and Chelsie.
Wendy was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family. She also had worked a few jobs including; Boomsma’s Eggs, 3M, and Casey’s, and for 14 years Gary and Wendy owned and operated Comer Roofing.
Wendy enjoyed crafts and the Marion County 4H projects with her children. She was a wonderful cake baker and she liked horses, horseback riding, and campfires.
Wendy is survived by her husband of 33 years Gary Comer of rural Knoxville; her three children, Justin (Amanda) Comer of Melcher-Dallas, Joshua Comer of rural Knoxville, and Chelsie (Dan) Stroupe of Fort Rucker, Alabama; and three grandchildren, Amelia Alice Stroupe, Maia Jo Comer, and Nolan Jerry Stroupe. Wendy is also survived by her three brothers, Richard J. Dunkin, Chris (Brenda) Dunkin, and Dennis Dunkin; two half-sisters, Bernice Gibbs, and Marsha Teal; and two half-brothers, Cleo Dunkin, and David Dunkin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
