Wendy Ann (Cox) Harnden was born July 7, 1954, in Mason City, Iowa to Marion and Anna Marie (Hoots) Cox.

In 1960 Wendy’s family moved to Knoxville where she attended and graduated
from Knoxville High School, class of 1972.

Following high school, she worked a few
jobs before starting with the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville. She worked for 25 years at the hospital in the kitchen and later with the credit union. She retired in 2004.

In June of 1990, Wendy married Randy Harnden. They were blessed with one son Robert.
They later divorced in 2008.

Wendy liked animals, especially her dogs. She also enjoyed sewing and the outdoors.

Wendy died on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 57 years, 7 months, and 18 days.

She is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Anna Marie Cox; two brothers Allan Cox and Eugene “Butch” Cox; one sister Susan Moss; and one nephew Jon Cox.

Wendy is survived by her son Robert Harnden of Knoxville; three brothers, Gerald (Dodie) Cox of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, Ronald (Tish) Cox of Knoxville, Danny (Joyce) Cox of Melrose; two sisters Darlene (Gayland) Lightner of Rochester, Minnesota, and Amy (Eddie) Hanus of Blairsburg.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville with Chaplain Suzanne Vogel officiating.

Burial will follow services at Greenwood Cemetery north of Knoxville. Wendy’s family will greet friends from 1:30 P.M. until service time also on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Wendy’s family.
