Vivian Jean (Oswandel) Boothe, 77, died on January 25, 2005, of complications from heart surgery.
Graveside interment of cremains will be held at 10;30 a.m. Saturday, January 31 in the Chariton Cemetery.
Vivian was born February 28, 1926, in Knoxville to Leslie and Maye Oswandel.
She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1944. In the fall of 1944, she married Reid Boothe and moved to his family farm south of Lucas.
After Reid’s death in 1975, she moved to Warren County where she was the Hog Manager for Marywood Farms. She loved giving area school groups tours of the farm and showing off her baby pigs. Many of the country’s schoolchildren consider her the ” Pig Lady”
After retiring from the farm she enjoyed gardening and working part-time in her son’s business.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reid; and her sister, Mildred Frazzini. She is survived by her only son, Larry Reid Boothe, and his wife, P. Alex Boothe of Indianola; a granddaughter, Jennifer Boothe, and a great-granddaughter, Vivienne Kruse both of Corydon; and a step-granddaughter, Regina Hoping Gardner of West St. Paul, MN.
Her family includes Wilma Haning of Pavillion WY; Chester and Lorraine Oswandel and Maxine and Merlyn Zimbelman of Loveland CO; Verlin and Carolyn Oswandel of Englewood, CO; Dwight and Kay Oswandel of Arvada, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.
