Vivian J. McMurray, 79, of Kingston, Illinois, died unexpectedly on April 21, 2015, at Kishwaukee Hospital.

Vivian was born on September 17, 1935, in Knoxville, Iowa, to Christopher "CC" and Lottie Durham. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1953.

On November 5, 1953, Vivian was joined in marriage to John F. McMurray in Knoxville, and they moved to DeKalb county Illinois in 1957.

Vivian and her husband were the owners of Johnny's Tap in Kingston until 1984. She was employed by Valley Industries in Sycamore before working and retiring from Genoa-Kingston schools as a cafeteria worker in 2010.

Vivian enjoyed baking, playing card games, fill-in puzzles and embroidery, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by 2 sons, Chris (Suzie) McMurray of Kenosha, WI; Chawn (Christi) McMurray of St. Paul, KS; 2 daughters, Carrie McMurray of Genoa; and Cheryl (Roger) Wiewel of Cortland.

She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Vivian is also survived by 2 brothers, Donald (Helen) Durham of Clarendon, TX, and Jerry (Bert) Durham of Genoa; and 1 sister, Wanda Meyers, Sycamore.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Colin; one daughter, Caren; 7 brothers and 6 sisters.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Butala Funeral Home, Sycamore, followed by burial and graveside services at Kingston Cemetery.
