Vernon Cecil Richards, 80, of Carlisle, IA passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan 7, 2017. He was born Feb 8, 1936, in rural Knoxville, IA to Cecil & Wilma Richards.
He could be found smoking a pipe & being downright ornery while running the Goff & Nash NAPA store from 1963 to 2007 in Carlisle.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Richards; daughters, Melinda Sterry of Parker, CO, Brenda Richards of Yuma, AZ, & Rhonda (Paul) Roberts of Independence, MO; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; & sister, Eileen (Norman) Kingery of Knoxville, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Jennifer, & sister, Faye Coulson.
Visitation will take place on Thurs, Jan 12 from 10 AM – NOON at Lighthouse Community Church at 7705 Indianola Rd, Des Moines, IA with the memorial service immediately following at NOON. Memorial contributions may be directed to Sheryl in the loving memory of Vernon.
