Vera Louise (Kincaid) Noah was born Aug. 27, 1915, in Lucas County, Iowa to John and Velta Kincaid. She passed away on May 11, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Linda Schumann.
Vera always lived in the country and enjoyed farm life. She graduated from Knoxville High School and taught for six years.
On July 3, 1939, she married Orrie Noah, and they were blessed with three children: Louise, John, and Linda.
In the 1950's she took college courses to renew her teaching certificate and taught for another five years in a one-room country school.
Beginning in 1960, she worked at the Dairy Queen for 32 years. She was always active with church work, her children's 4-H and other activities, her church circle and Three Mile Lane Club, sewing, gardening, and cooking. After retirement, she and Orrie took up woodworking and made many items for friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Atha Crist.
Vera is survived by her husband, Orrie; her children: Louise Skellings and husband Edmund of Davie, Fla., John Noah and wife Lucy, Linda Schumann, and husband Bud, all of Chariton; her sister, Ruth Brogden of Chariton; her brother, Virgil Kincaid and wife Betty of Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary DeGeest officiating. The interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
Music was provided by the group Joyful Noise from First United Methodist Church and organist Marlene DeGeest. Serving as bearers were Doug Noah, Jeff Noah, Alan McGee, Steve Gray, Chuck Flanagan and Ron Crist.
