Funeral services for Vera Agnes Rochholz, 89, of St. Joseph, Mo., formerly of Knoxville,
who died November 22, at the Liberty Terrace Care Center in Liberty, were held November
25, 1997, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Burial was at Graceland Cemetery
in Knoxville. Pastor Bob Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided by
Darlene Mooberry, organist, and Jim Kidder, vocalist. Pallbearers were Kenneth Everling
II, Ronald Ferguson, Fred Haggard, Royce Lenger, and James McMillan.
Vera was born
November 19, 1908, in Marion County, the daughter of Bertha Olena Wright and Emmet
Templeton Hollingshead. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1925.
She began
her teaching career in the fall of 1926. She later, received a BA degree from Simpson
College in Indianola, and her MS degree from Drake University. Throughout her career
she taught at Marysville, Sioux Center, Tracy, Adair, Clarinda, Lamoni and Des Moines
at the Crocker and Windsor Heights elementary schools. She was the medical librarian
at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines from 1961 – 1973.
She was united in marriage to
Clyde Rochholz in November 1962. He died two years later. She was a lifetime member
of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; the Mary Marion Chapter of the DAR; and the Anne
Rutledge Tent of the DUV. She moved to St. Joseph,, Missouri in 1990.
She was preceded
in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Carroll, Howard, and Glenn.
She is survived by four nieces, Jean Everling of Holt, Mo., Kathryn Phillips of
Burlington, Caroline Clark of St. Joseph, Mo., and Vera Christine Hagan of Savannah,
Mo.; a grand-niece, Penny Haggard of Kansas City, Mot; and a grand-nephew, Kenneth
Everling II of Macon, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church,
and the Alzheimer's Association.

in Knoxville.
