Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Vance Marvin Crosby was born September 22, 1935 in Dallas, Iowa. He graduated
from Knoxville High School in 1953.

He was married to Marlene Pregon in Knoxville
August 31, 1957.

They were blessed with six children: Mike, Jim, Teresa, Kathy,
Susan, and Bob. He worked at the Gambles Store, owned Crosby’s Lounge in Melcher,
and worked as a crop insurance adjuster.

Vance was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic
Church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was also a 50 year member of
the American Legion. Vance enjoyed volunteering at Helping Hands in Knoxville. He
had a great sense of humor, liked to dance with Marlene, and enjoyed hunting, fishing,
gardening and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Marlene; children: Mike (Diane)
Crosby of Pella, Jim Crosby of Harvey, Teresa (Rick) Ryerson of Attica, Kathy (Sid)
Woody of Newton, Susan (Bryce) Van Weelden of Peoria, and Bob (Staci) Crosby of
Eddyville; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; siblings: Jim (Pat) Pope, Marietta
(Jim) Wells; sister-in-law Sandy Pope; brother-in-law Charles Kading; and many nieces
and nephews. Vance passed away July 8, 2009 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Vance Crosby, Josephine Jones Crosby Pope, and Forrest Pope; and siblings: Tom Pope and Mary Ann Kading. The American Legion will provide Military Honors.
