Joshua Michael Trout, age 45, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2022.

Josh was born on June 10, 1977, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Michael and Lori (Mart) Trout.

Josh grew up in Knoxville and graduated with the class of 1995. Following high school, Josh attended DMACC and received his associate degree in Information Technology.

In 1998, Josh became employed for the city of Ankeny as a network administrator at the Iowa Association Municipal Utilities.

Josh’s hobbies included airplane shows, hot air balloons, and camping.

He enjoyed “Monday Dinners” with his close group of friends. They often had different themes to go along with their dinners, including murder mystery parties. Josh’s specialty was making Italian wedding soup.

Josh was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Josh will be remembered as a family man. He loved his family and friends and will be missed by them all.

Those left to cherish Josh’s memory include his parents, Michael Trout and Lori (Stan) Peterson; brothers, Ryan Trout (Sara) and Carson (Alex) Peterson; nephews, Andon, Ryker, and Bray Trout; niece, Aria Peterson (and one nephew on the way). Josh is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and a great network of close friends.

Josh is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Phyllis Mart, and Melvin and Pauline Trout; also two uncles, Mel Trout, and James Trout.

A visitation for Josh will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. with his family present to greet friends and relatives.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Following services, the burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Josh’s memory to his family and will be designated to Infantile Spasm Research in honor of his niece.
