Funeral services for Thomas Lee Webb, 75, of Fulda, Minn., formerly of Knoxville,
who died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at his home, were held Friday, April 5, at the
First Presbyterian Church in Fulda. Rev. Allan Bakke and Rev. Ken Honius officiated
at the services.
Music was provided by Mary Jean Buschena, organist, and Mark Loosebrock,
soloist. The inurnment was at Prairie Hill Cemetery. Military honors were provided by
the Avoca American Legion and the Fulda VFW Post 9017.
Tom was born on November 16, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to Omar B. and Edrica Minster
Webb. He moved with his family to Newton, Iowa, and in 1930 they moved to Knoxville.
He grew up in Knoxville where he attended school and graduated. He was active in
athletics and became an Eagle Scout when he was 15 years old.
Tom entered the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. After his discharge, he
returned to Knoxville and worked at the VA Hospital. He married Bernice Roesnick on April 9, 1947, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fulda at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulda, Minn.
He then went on to continue his education
at Central College in Pella while he was still employed at the VA hospital. In 1950
they moved to a farm two miles south of Avoca, Minn. where they lived and raised
five sons.
He also sold Moorman Feed and Arbie Scooter Feed besides farming. In
1958, they moved into Fulda. Tom went into the insurance business in 1964. He was
very active until March of 1989 when he had to retire due to disability.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda where he held numerous
positions on the church board.
He was also a charter member of the Avoca American
Legion, V.A.V.S. board of the Sioux Falls VA Hospital, past commander of 3rd VFW
District, life member of the Disabled American Veterans and VFW Veterans, Murray
County Masonic Lodge where he served as a Past Master and Past Worthy Patron of
the Eastern Star.
He was also active in the organization and founding of the Maple
Lawn Nursing Home was a former mayor of the City of Fulda and served on the Fulda
school board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jonathan Webb; and a brother, Harry
Webb.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; four sons and their spouses, Steve and Terry
Webb of Fulda, Minn., David Webb of Somerset, Wis., Timothy and Vickie Webb of Milford;
and Daniel and Jean Webb of Fulda, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda.
