Services for Thomas Livingston Avery, 59, who died March 5, 1982, at Durango, Colo., were held May 31, 1982, at the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville.
The interment was in Olive Chapel Cemetery.
Dr. Leonard E. Deaver officiated at the services. Music was provided by Mrs. Ruth Vietmeier, organist, and Katie Lane and Steve Waters, guitar duet.
Mr. Avery was born May 14, 1922, in Knoxville, the son of Harry Russell and Helen Rietveld Avery.
He attended the Knoxville schools, graduating in 1939. He attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, CalHe served four years in the United States Marine Corps during World War
He was married to Phyllis Loring of Knoxville on May 31, 1945.
He was associated with the family business of Avery’s Hardware for 12 years. He then moved to Phoenix, Az. and then to Los Angeles.
He was employed by Montgomery Ward & Co. as a buyer for the past 18 years.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his son, Lt. Commander Michael L. Avery; two daughters, Mrs. Janet A. Prichard of Durango, Colo. And Meredee Avery of Colorado Springs; four grandsons; one brother, John of Redmond, Wash.
