Ted Ward was born on February 8, 1915 in Marion County, Iowa the son of Thurman E. Ward and Cora P. (Shivvers) Ward.

He was raised in the Knoxville area and graduated with the Knoxville High School Class of 1932. On April 11, 1936, he was united in marriage to Florence Marsh in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Ted and Florence farmed together all their married lives.

Florence passed away in November of 1999. Through the years has always been active in local organizations; he served on the school board and was a 4-H leader for many years. He has also received the Master Pork Producer Award and was named Farmer of the Year by the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Ted passed away on Friday, June 21, 2002, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Florence, his brother, Marce, and two sisters: Pauline Henning and Lena Hale.Ted Ward

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Ted, and his wife Mary Ann of Knoxville; John and wife Pat of Clive and Mary Roach and husband Tom of Cumming; two sisters: Frances Caswell and Helen Roberts both of Knoxville; his brother, Ira John Ward of Tampa, Florida; 5 grandchildren,7 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 9 step-great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Internment was in the Lincoln Cemetery — Marion County, Iowa For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, Iowa
