Ted Donald Godfrey, age 84, a longtime Park Rapids, MN area resident passed away Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN with his loved one at his side.
Ted was born November 21, 1931, in Knoxville, Iowa to Fred Godfrey and Ethel Florence (Billingsly).
Ted was united in marriage to Mardelle Hedeman in June 1952. Mardelle preceded Ted in death in July of 1978. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Gary, Bruce, and Cindy.
Later Ted was married to Patricia Williams.
Ted dedicated his life to law enforcement. His 32-year career with the Iowa State Patrol included service in Red Oak, Fort Dodge, Bettendorf, and Des Moines where he attained the rank of Major. Ted also served for 20 years in the Iowa Army National Guard.
Ted is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Park Rapids; children: Gary (Diane) Godfrey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Bruce (Pat) Godfrey of Katy, Texas, and Cindy (Paul) Lindquist of Waunakee, WI; sisters: Betty Miller of Des Moines, IA and Beverly Mooney of Plymouth, MN; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ted is preceded in death by his wife, Mardelle; his parents, Fred and Ethel Godfrey and one sister, Freda Keller.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 27, 2016, at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN with Pastor Fred Brown officiating.
Specially recorded music will include “How Great Thou Art” and “When I Get Where I’m Going”. Light refreshments will be served following the services.
Burial will be in Knoxville IA.
