Susan “Su” Rae (Gettman) Lewis, age 70, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Comfort House in Pella, Iowa.
Su’s wishes were to be cremated.
A celebration of life will be held at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville on December 20, 2021, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.
A fellowship will follow at the V.F.W., John Myers Post 3519 in Knoxville.
Susan was born on May 7, 1951, in Washington, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Raymond, Sr. and Marjorie (Hugi) Gettman.
She grew up in Washington, Pennsylvania, and had many lifelong friendships.
She attended Knoxville Junior High and High School, graduating from Knoxville High School, Class of 1969.
Susan was united in marriage to Steven Lewis on June 4, 2005. They were blessed with 16 years of marriage before her passing.
After receiving training at Boyd Hunt Enterprises, Su traveled in a band and sang all over the United States for many years.
Later she settled back in Knoxville and worked at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics in medical records and worked with Hawkeye Home Health Care Services.
For over 20 years Su was the owner and operator of the Knoxville Tax Service, where she made many longtime friendships.
Su always had a passion for singing and she was a huge Beatles fan! She enjoyed camping and spending time with family (especially her grandchildren).
Those left to cherish Susan’s memory include her husband, Steven Lewis of Knoxville; daughter, Tiffany Mayfield (Mike Storms) of Knoxville; stepdaughter, Lindsay White (David) of Storm Lake; six grandchildren, Aurora, Riley, Douglas, Savannah, Kira, and Daniel; and two great-grandchildren, William, and Charlotte.
Susan is also survived by two sisters, Leslie Wicks of Knoxville, and Robin Perrone (Dave) of Shoreview, MN; and one brother, Raymond Gettman, Jr. (Leslie) of Murray.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond, Sr. and Marjorie Gettman; her brother-in-law, Mike Wicks; and her nephew Jordan Kirtley.
