Steven Lloyd Stanley, Sr. age 64, of rural Hamilton, passed away at his home on Friday, November 21, 2014. Steven’s wishes were to be cremated. No services are planned at this time.

Steven was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, on May 25, 1950, the son of Roland Lloyd “Red” and Marie Elizabeth (Hronec) Stanley. When Steven was very young they moved to Knoxville.

Steve was a graduate of Knoxville High School, Class of 1968. After high school Steven graduated from diesel mechanic school in Centerville.

After mechanic school Steven began working at the Knoxville Ready Mix and later called Ideal Ready Mix of Knoxville for 47 years. Steven was currently still employed with Ideal Ready Mix.

In 1967, in the state of Michigan, Steven married Leslie Leigh Gettman. They were blessed with three children: Tricia, Tina and Steven, Jr.

On November 23, 1982 in Melcher, Iowa, Steven and Merrietta Curtis were united in marriage. They shared almost 32 years to the day of marriage before Steven’s passing.

Steven enjoyed the outdoors. He worked all his life outdoors and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers. Steven rode Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and liked to work on engines.

Steven is survived by his wife, Merrietta Stanley of rural Hamilton; three children, Tricia (Brad) Kirtley, Tina (Kade) Chambers and Steve (Sheryl) Stanley, Jr. all of Knoxville; two stepchildren, Linda Hinton of LeGrand, and John (Terri) Hedrick of Knoxville; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Steven is also survived by his mother Marie Stanley and his two brothers, Dan Stanley and Phil (Sherri) Stanley both of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his father Roland “Red” Stanley; stepson Joel Hinton; and two brothers, Mike and Robert “Bob” Stanley.
