Steven Ronald Henning, age 62, of Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Johnston, Iowa.

Steven was born at Collins Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa, on December 3, 1957, the son of Wayne and Donna Henning. He grew up in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1977. During his time in school, he participated in football and wrestling and was employed at Hunter’s gas station.

Steven was united in marriage to Cynthia Ann Witt in 1980. They were blessed with two sons, Dan and Drew. They later divorced in 2000.

Steven was a skilled welder and maintenance technician throughout his life. His main employers were Goff & Nash, VerMeer, Oskaloosa Engineering, and Adventureland.

Steven liked fishing and being outdoors. He enjoyed repairing classic cars, racing motorcycles and cars, and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish Steven’s memory include his mother Donna Park (Max); father, Wayne Henning (Linda); sons, Dan Henning (Megan Gist Rogers) of Columbia, Iowa and Drew Henning of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Julie Park and Bonnie Henning; nephew, Sam Park; four grandchildren, Nathalie, Lukas, Jayden and Hunter; and aunt, Pat Laymon.

Steven is preceded in death by his grandparents; and two sisters, Cindy Henning and Carry Henning.

Steven’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville beginning at 2:00 P.M. Steven’s family will be present from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. to greet friends and relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 P.M.
