Steve Douglas Gotta, 63, entered into heaven on December 3, 2017, at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by his family. He was born May 16, 1954, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Steve graduated from Knoxville High School in 1972. He was an owner/operator truck driver, leasing to several companies throughout the years. Steve cherished his family and friends and their time spent together. He also had a great love of animals and nature.
Steve had a zest for life and loved giving to others any way he could. Steve was an incredible mentor and teacher to many over the years. One of his favorite quotes was “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Steve was also a great man of faith who always led by example. His greatest desire was to spread the word of God and make heaven more crowded.
Steve is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Dinnes) Gotta; children, Clint (Andrea) Gotta and Courtney (Derek) Christenson; grandchildren, Jeremy, Austin, and Jack; mother, Linda Gotta; brothers, Tim (Betsy Bellamy) Gotta and John (Terri) Gotta; sisters, Lisa (Dave) Ridnouer and Valerie Gotta; as well as other loving family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Gotta; and his mother and father-in-law, Mary and John Dinnes.
