Steven Cole Bailey, 60, of Knoxville IA, passed away late Tuesday evening at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella, IA.
Steven was the son of the late Phillip S. Bailey and is survived by his mother, Dolores (Du Bree) Bailey of Knoxville.
He loved radio and was currently a technical director for WHO and employee of KATECHO in Des Moines, IA.
Steven Cole Bailey was an only child born to Phillip Short and Dolores (Du Bree) Bailey. He was born on January 15, 1955, at Independence, Missouri.
At the age of five years his parents moved to Knoxville, Iowa where Steven attended the Knoxville schools, K through 12.
He graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1973 and already then had an interest in broadcasting.
Following his graduation he attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he received an associate degree in broadcasting. Steven loved radio and worked at several radio stations.
In 1976 his family opened Bailey’s Donut Shop in Knoxville which they operated for 13 years. Two years later Steven opened a shop in Monroe, Iowa. Steve and his family had fun working together and enjoyed serving the Knoxville and Monroe communities.
At the present time Steven was employed at WHO radio as a technical director and at KATECHO medical supplies in Des Moines, Iowa.
Steve fought a long battle with cancer and passed away on December 29, 2015, at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella, Iowa at the age of 60 years.
Mourning his passing is his dear mother, Dolores Bailey, of Knoxville and he was preceded in death by his father, Phillip S. Bailey, on October 7, 2007.
Steven loved radio, NASCAR racing, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Green Bay Packers. His car was trained to turn in at every Caribou coffee shop. Steve was a quiet, caring and thoughtful man, standing up for what he thought was right even if it wasn’t popular.
He always expressed his opinions standing firm. God came first in his life and then his friends and family.
