Stanley Hugh Bishop, 27, son of Donald and Myrle Cummings Bishop of Knoxville, was
born Aug. 12, 1938, in Marion County and died on Aug. 24, 1965 at University Hospital
at Iowa City.
He was united in marriage on June 29, 1958, to Merna M. Sherwood,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kermit E. Sherwood of Knoxville. He lived his entire life
in Iowa.
He was for 7 years in the Army Reserve and the Iowa National Guard and
had worked at Diamond Laboratories in Des Moines for 8 1/2 years.
Survivors include
his wife, a daughter, Terri Linn, 6, and son Donald Kermit, 5: his parents: two
brothers, Phillip and Duane of Knoxville, and his Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A.H.
Cummings of Pella.
Funeral services were held from Knoxville First Methodist
Church on Aug. 27 with Rev. J. Roland Crandall officiating. Internment was in Graceland
Cemetery. Casketbearers were Dean Cook, Lynn Davisson, Dr. Gordon Boylan, Douglas
Carmichel, Duane Kline and Joseph Shinn.
