Funeral services for Shirley Mae Riley, 60, of Des Moines, formerly of Knoxville,
who died August 31, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, were held September
4, 1996, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.

Burial was at Graceland Cemetery
in Knoxville. Kelli M. Riley was the speaker. Music was provided by Neil Johnson,
organist, and Virginia Jacobsen and Jim Templeton, vocalists. Musical tributes were
also presented by her granddaughters.

Pallbearers were Dan Garrison, Steven Garrison,
Dave Garrison, Bill Murphy, Howard Garrison, Gary Murphy, John Garrison, and Mike
Murphy.

Shirley was born June 8, 1936, in Knoxville, the daughter of Glenn and Sylvia
McKim McClain. She grew up in Knoxville and moved to Des Moines in 1949. She was
employed at Northwestern Bell until 1985, and was the film librarian at the Des
Moines Register until her death.

She was united in marriage to Lester L. Riley.
Lester died in 1987.

She is survived by her mother, Sylvia O’Connor of Knoxville;
a daughter, Kelli M. Riley of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Timothy L. Riley of Des
Moines; a sister, Barbara Garrison of Knoxville; her friend and companion, Harold
Murphy of Des Moines; and three grandchildren.

Park Funeral Home in Des Moines, and Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville.
