Sheryl Denise (Harsin) VanWyngarden was born in Pella, Iowa to Kay and Sandra (Core) Harsin on June 7, 1966, and grew up in the Knoxville area. Sheryl graduated from Knoxville High School and also attended Des Moines Area Community College and Indian Hills Community College.

Sheryl was united in marriage with Daryl Van Wyngarden on August 21, 1988, at the Valley Chapel in Marion County Park. They were blessed with two children: Cress and Sarah.

Sheryl was a member of the Lower Grove Church near Peoria for 24 years and a member of the Voices in Praise Quartet. She was an inspiration and blessing to all who knew her and welcomed everyone as if they were her family. Sheryl loved singing, cooking, geocaching, and especially playing with her grandchildren. She had an amazing passion for life and lived life to the fullest every day.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Daryl and children; Cress (Ashley) Van Wyngarden of Knoxville, and Sarah (Kyle) Dickenson of Pella; grandchildren, Matthias and Jacob Van Wyngarden; father Kay (Shirley) Harsin of Knoxville; brother Eric (Michelle) Harsin of Knoxville; and sister Shelly (Chris) Brain of Knoxville.

Sheryl is also survived by her mother-in-law Minnie Van Wyngarden of Pella, siblings-in-law: Walt (Isla) Van Wyngarden of Caledonia, Michigan; Larry (Barb) Van Wyngarden of Newton, Ron (Leann) Van Wyngarden of Johnston, and Sherry (Doug) Pfadenhauer of Pella, and many nieces and nephews.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Sandra (Core) Harsin; nephew Clayton Harsin, father-in-law, Henry Van Wyngarden, and sister-in-law Cheri Van Wyngarden.

Sheryl will be dearly missed by her coworkers at Christian Opportunity Center, and her many friends and family.
