Sean Fridlington

Return to Class of 1970

Sean John Fridlington was a native of Oskaloosa, Iowa,passed away on January 7, 2024, at his home in Highland Park.

One of the Fridlington boys, Sean, Pat, Kevin and Brian. Sean also held dual citizenship between the US and Ireland. John received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa; he earned his law degree from the University of Notre Dame.

John was a dedicated REALTOR® Association leader for more than 40 years, most recently as CEO of the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® (SPAAR) where he just surpassed his nine-year anniversary. Prior to joining SPAAR, he held three previous REALTOR® Association roles at the state level, including as CEO in Massachusetts and Florida.

John also worked at California Association of REALTORS® (CAR) where his most recent position, after 22 years, was vice president of its executive department under the direction of CEO Joel Singer.

John began his career at CAR in its legal department. John holds the National Association of REALTORS® designation of REALTOR® Association Certified Executive (RCE) and the American Society of Association Executives designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE).

John is survived by his partner of 38 years Doug Stelzner, brothers Brian and Kevin Fridlington, and two nieces. John always enjoyed vacationing in Ireland, and one of his favorite places was Kinsale. His ashes will be scattered there in the summer.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring at the St. Paul Area Association of REALTORS® (SPAAR) headquarters office in St. Paul.Sean Fridlington, KHS Class of 1970 who passed away on January 7th, 2024 in St Paul, MN at the age of 71 years.

A mass will be held at St Anthony’s Church on Sunday, March 17th, the feast of St Patrick’s with coffee reception after.

His ashes will be spread in Ireland this Summer, where he held dual citizenship, his mother, Irish by birth.

He is survived by his brothers, Brian and Kevin, and two nieces. An announcement will come out later in March with details.
