Sandra Kay (Pitt) Hunter, passed away peacefully at age 57 on Wednesday, February, 10, 2016 at her home in Tracy surrounded by her loving family.
As Sandra had wished, her body has been cremated and a celebration of her beautiful life will be held Friday, March 4th, 2016. Sandra’s family will be greeting friends from 2:30 P.M. until 4:30 P.M. Services for Sandra will follow at 5:00 P.M.
Sandra was born on February 10, 1959, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She is the daughter of Gene and Beverly (Wymore) Pitt.
Sandra was raised in Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School Class of 1977. After high school Sandra attended nursing school until her senior year where she realized her affliction with blood and suffering. Sandra also waitressed for a period of time at Shorty’s Steakhouse in Pleasantville, Iowa where she found her soulmate and love of her live Randy Hunter.
Sandra and Randy Hunter were united in marriage on July 5, 1980, in Knoxville, Iowa. During their 35 years of marriage they were blessed with two children; Andy and Ashley Hunter.
Sandra worked for over 25 years in the trucking industry where she began as a dispatcher and worked her way up to Terminal Manager in a male dominated industry. Sandra took great pride in her work and accomplishments. Sandra began her career with Brooks Trucking, which was later acquired, and is currently MTS. After the acquisition and restructuring, Sandra continued working for MTS and maintained her position as Ford Account Manager.
Sandra lived life to the fullest and made a friend everywhere she went. Sandy loved her family and her grand-babies which became her world the day they were born. She enjoyed special girl’s trips with her daughter, sister, and niece; which consisted of shopping, gambling, dinner, drinking, and massages. She loved reading books and anything her special little man Gavin enjoyed doing.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband; Randy Hunter of Tracy; her daughter, Ashley (Dustin) Hicks of Ottumwa; and two grandchildren that she adored, Gavin Andrew and Josilynn Kay Hicks. Sandra is also survived by her mother Beverly Pitt of Oskaloosa; and one sister, Jackie (Rick) Wright of Knoxville. Sandy is also survived by two special nephews; Shawn (Val Brayden) Wright of Pleasantville and Ryan Wright of Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Pitt and her son, Andrew Hunter.
