Ruthie was born on December 16, 1935, in Knoxville, Iowa to William and Ruth (Mayer) Deitrick. She grew up in Marion County on the bluffs of what is now Lake Red Rock. Ruth attended school and graduated from Knoxville High School with the Class of 1954.
On July 3, 1958, she married Leonard Dow (L.D.) Rose. They lived all of their married life in Newton, except for one year spent in Fairmont, Minnesota.
Ruthie worked for a brief time as an airline stewardess before joining Maytag where she worked in information services for 30 years.
Ruthie got her greatest enjoyment from her family and seldom missed her children’s or grandchildren’s many events. Her home was always open for some “Grandma therapy”. She also enjoyed reading, needlework, gardening (and gardening shows), and decorating for each holiday. Ruthie was a strong, selfless, and compassionate woman who always took care of family and friends first.
