Ruth (Core) Stittsworth was born on February 15, 1908, in Marion County, Iowa. Ruth was
the daughter of Ethel G. Horsman and George H. Core.

Ruth attended Union Township Country school and both Knoxville Junior and Senior High Schools. She was united in marriage to David Stittsworth on December 20, 1928 in Knoxville, Iowa. Ruth and David farmed and raised their family on a farm northwest of Knoxville. Ruth was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

In 1973, Ruth and David moved to Loveland, Colorado, Ruth joined the Faith Evangelical Church in Loveland. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed relating her memories of the “olden days” to family and friends.

Mrs. Ruth Stittsworth passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at the Northshore Manor in Loveland, Colorado, at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 6 days.

Mrs. Stittsworth is preceded in death by her husband, David; a sister, Fern Fast;
two brothers: Howard and Grant Core and a granddaughter, Lori Christensen.

Mrs. Stittsworth is survived by a son and his wife, Larry and Donna Stittsworth
of Loveland, Colorado; a daughter and her husband, Laverne and Marinus Christensen of Loveland, Co; grandson and his wife, Steven and Mary Christensen of Fort Collins, Co; a granddaughter and her husband, Rhondi and Kelly Maxwell of Carthage, Missouri; four great-grandchildren, a step great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruth Stittsworth were held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 26, 2002, at Williams Funeral Home. Rev. Kathy Sides officiated at the service.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Iowa.
Casket bearers for the service included: Steven Christensen, Bert Dennison, Kay Harsh], Kelly Maxwell, Jim Stittsworth and John Stittsworth. Musical selections included “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Jim Kidder was the vocalist accompanied by Darlene Mooberry, the organist.

Friends called after 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 26, 2002, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville, Iowa. Memorials may be given in Ruth’s memory to Hospice of Larimer County.
