Rosalie Joyce (Deitrick) Current was born on October 29, 1930, in Dunreath, Iowa. She was one of nine children born to Lota Fern Zoe Cannon and Raymond Ivan Deitrick (b.Aug 21,1892-d.April 24).
On May 11, 1948, Rosalie was united in marriage to David Wayne Current in Unionville, MO. To this union, six children were born.
Rosalie was a full-time homemaker and mother.
She was a protective, caring, and loving Mom and Grandmother who was always there
for her family and friends. Rosalie was a member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints
Church-Des Moines Branch.
Rosalie passed away on Friday, February 13, 2009, at her
home in Des Moines at the age of 78 years, 3 months, and 14 days. Preceding her in
death were her parents and husband.
Those left to mourn her passing are six children;
Cathy Stephen of Des Moines. Tom (Margaret) Current of Des Moines, twins: Cindy
Gatch of Des Moines and Vickie (Daniel) Brooks of Carlisle, Deborah McInroy of Knoxville,
D. Michael (Melanie) Current of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren;
2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lavon Fowler of Brush Prairie, WA; and
one brother, Clem Deitrick of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville with Elder Richard Lewis officiating.
Interment was in Lincoln Cemetery, rural Marion County, Iowa. Casket bearers were Stacy and Tim Gatch, Jamie, Jeremy, Joseph, and Nathan Stephen.
Musical selections were “Peace In The Valley” and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.”
The organist was Christine Meyers. The vocalist was Jim Kidder.
Memorials in memory of Mrs. Current may be made to “The Smile Train” or “Feed The Children”.
