Rodney Ray Johnson, son of John R. and Marjorie (Swayne) Johnson was born August 2, 1947 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

He grew up in the Flagler and Knoxville area and was a 1965 graduate of Knoxville High School. Rod graduated in 1967 from Centerville Community College with an Associate of Arts Degree. Rod passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008, at Mercy Capitol in Des Moines, at the age of 60 years.

Those left to honor his memory include his parents, John and Marjorie Johnson, brother and sister-in-law, Denny (Dori) Johnson all of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (Kevin) Clark of Cedar Falls; son, Kenneth of Knoxville; adopted children, Corey (Kristen) of Melcher and Jill (Brett) McDonald of Arkansas; 10 grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Rod was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Kathryn (Glover) Kelderman; paternal grandparents, Dan and Etta Johnson and an infant grandson, Kevin James Clark, Jr.

Rod will always be remembered for his love of his children and grandchildren and his love of music. We’re sure he’s playing lead guitar in “Heaven’s Band.
