Services for Rodney William Comstock, 47, of Lakewood, Wash. and formerly of Knoxville, who died May 27, 1984 at North Platte, Neb., were held May 30 at Bybee and Davis Funeral Home and June 1 at Visitation Catholic Church, Tacoma, Wash.
Interment was in Mountain View Memorial Park, Tacoma, Wash.
Pastor Steven Eggers officiated at the services.
Mr. Comstock was born on Oct. 21, 1936, in Iowa City. the son of Clarence and Ernestine Walter Comstock.
He attended Knoxville High School and finished his education in military service. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army, being discharged in 1974.
He served with the First Marine Division during the Korean War and had three tours of duty in Vietnam.
He was employed at the V.A. Hospital in Tacoma, Wash. for two years and since 1976 was employed by the Tacoma, Wash. Post Office.
He was a member of the Visitation Catholic Church, Disabled American Veterans, Moose Lodge, Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Tacoma Postal Employees Union, and Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Rafaela; one .son, Johnny, of the U.S. Army Field Station in Turkey; his father, of Marshalltown; his stepfather, Chester Derringer of Knoxville; seven brothers, Earl and David of Chariton, James of Knoxville, Roger of Thorton, Col., Dennis. of Brimfield, Ill., Carrot of Chester, Va., and Daniel of Kirksville, Mo.; and three sisters, Katherine Snow of Knoxville, Sandra Lou Welsh of Newton, and Lydia Pettyjohn of Tacoma.
