Rod Craig Barnes, 58, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Creston, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Powers Funeral Home junction of highways 34 and 25 in Creston.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston.

Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday, Jan. 31, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Rodney Craig Barnes was born December 15, 1953, in Knoxville, Ia. to Peggy (Brown)
Barnes and Kenneth Dean Barnes. He graduated from Knoxville Community High School
in 1972 and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for a year studying art.

On December 29, 1979, Rod married Kathy Eblen in Creston. They lived and worked
in Creston. They divorced in 1985.

Rod worked for Berry Bros. Masonry until 1986,
sold baskets for Jensen Wholesale until 1992, worked for R.E. Lewis as a foreman
until 2001, then moved to Florida, living and working in Naples, Sanibel Island, and Ft. Myers. Rod had been working as a maintenance supervisor for Sundial Resorts.

Rod is survived by one daughter, Emmy (husband Larry) Key of Creston; three grandsons, Keaton, Kaden, and Colt, all of Creston; special friend, Darlene Mazzullo of Fort
Myers; two sisters, Rhonda (husband Mike) Berhow of Des Moines and Debbie Barnes Rodney Barnes
(significant other Donald Wentzel) of Des Moines; a nephew, Jake (wife Shanda) Berhow
of Des Moines; and a great-nephew, Gibson Berhow of Des Moines, and his former wife,
Kathy Barnes of Creston and many cousins and other family members in the Newton
area.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents.
