Roberta Faye Spring, 63, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health
Center, following her journey with multiple sclerosis and leukemia.

She was born August 8, 1947, in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Charlie R. and Cecil Fay (Niemants) Spring.

Roberta graduated from Knoxville High School in 1965 and earned her BA from the University of Northern Iowa in 1969. After teaching in Albia, she returned to
UNI to pursue her master’s degree. She then worked at Schultz Manufacturing, Oster Communications, and Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Roberta was a member of Metropolitan Chorale and served on their board. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church
and sang in the choir, was a circle member, and participated in centering prayer.

She loved bible study and prayer, travel, and especially shelling on Sanibel Island,
FL, her dogs, Smokey and Annie, reading, music, and stuffed animals.

Roberta is survived by her mother, Cecil Fay Spring, of Knoxville, Iowa; two sisters, Karen Spring of Des Moines and Sharon Spring of Cedar Falls; care-giver and friend, Jane Mertesdorf, of Cedar Falls, her Aunt Lil Niemants, and cousins from Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her father and her uncle, Leo Niemants. The family wishes to thank the
caring CAN staff at Stanard Assisted Living and Martin Center and to the Cedar Valley Hospice staff.

Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
