Robert E. Stickle was born September 13, 1917 to Marcus and Marie Stickle near Dallas, Iowa. He was raised in Marion County alongside his sister, Mary Bernice. Bob attended Highland Country School and Knoxville High School.

On November 11, 1944, Bob was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” Conrad. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Joanie and Judy. They raised their family on a farm near Melcher-Dallas. Bob farmed with his father. He loved the farm and was proud to be one of the first farmers in Marion County to plant soybeans. Bob loved working the soil and watching the seeds grow.

In addition to farming, Bob worked for Famer’s Mutual Hail Insurance Company in four states, both in sales and as an adjuster. He also worked for Marion County Mutual Insurance Company (IMT) for twenty-five years.

Bob enjoyed sprint car racing, attending the Iowa State Fair, playing cards, and going to church picnics at Bauer and Rosemont. He also liked country music and loved to go dancing with Kathy. The couple loved to travel together all over the western United States and also enjoyed trips to Branson. Above all, Bob loved to spend time with his family. He was a very proud father and grandfather.
