Robert Thomas “Bob” Sherwood age 95 passed Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the home of his daughter in Monroe, Iowa.

Bob was born on February 14, 1916, in Harvey, Iowa to
Effie Pearl (Haines) and John Wesley Sherwood, the fourth of eight children. He
attended Vigilance Country School and graduated from Knoxville High School, class
of 1933. During high school, he was active in 4H. Serving as Marion County President
and was boys 4H State Health Champion in 1932.

After high school, Bob worked with Community National Bank and clerked at local livestock sale barns.
In September of 1942, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served with the Seabees Division
in the Aleutian Island and South Pacific.

Bob returned home to Knoxville in January
of 1946. After that Bob owned a feed mill and poultry business in Monroe and later
built and operated a grain elevator there. After selling the grain elevator he continued
in banking and other business until his retirement.

In November 1937, he married Marjorie LeGrand from this union three daughters were born; Judy, Jane, and Mary
Jo. Later he married Frances “Fran” Kline. Bob enjoyed traveling, winters in Arizona,
family and friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; Margorie and his
wife Fran; one infant daughter Mary Jo; three Brothers J. Wesley, Kermit, and Bill
Sherwood; and one sister Mary Mae Jordan.

Robert is survived by his daughters Judy
Sherwood and Jane (Mark) McConeghey, Jo (Lonny) Milligan, and Maxine (Bob) Bruinekool;
his grandchildren Rhonda (Nick) Kmiec, Tim (LaChele) Sneller, Amy (Shawn) Burk,
Aaron (Mickey) McConeghey, James (Pati) McConeghey, Christopher Bruinekool, Matthew
(Saundra) Bruinekool, Shannon (J.D.) Unternahrer, Heather (Andy) Sterner; several
great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters
Francis Kirkwood, Martha Shivvers, and Nora Lee Ingle.

Funeral Services will be
held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 11th, at the First United Methodist Church, with
Rev. Art Hill and Lane Riggle officiating.

Burial will follow services at Graceland
Cemetery in Knoxville with military rites. Visitation for Robert will be held from
5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 10th, at the Winfield-Evans-McCleery Funeral
Home in Knoxville, with Robert’s family present.

Robert’s family has established
a memorial to Pella Hospice or the Park Lane Village Assisted Living in Knoxville.
