Services for William Robert Leeper, 70, of Knoxville, who died Juy 15, 1987 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held July 18 at Williams Funeral Home. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery.
Rev. John L. Beebout officiated at the services. Music was provided by Joan Arnott, organist, and Dr. Gordon Arnott, Vocalist.
Pallbeaers were John Caswell, John Ehorn, D.V. Ridnouer, Harold Chambers, Earl Moran, and Eddie Wagner.
Honorary bearers were Dorsey and Lyle Andrews. Dale and Gary Leeper, E. Paul Clark. Tom Gibsons, Lester I. Moon. Don McKay, Woodrow Shivvers, Vernon Cooley, Robert Hendricks, Don Hall. Tony Robuck and Herman Veenstra.
Mr. Leeper was born July 24, 1916 at Pleasantvon the son of William and Una Argo Leeper.
On Aug. 7 1957, he married Betty Reidel at Chariton. They had three children. She preceded him in death in 1981.
On Sept. 23, 1983, he married Vera Fryer Sarver.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Knoxville for 50 years, an affiliate member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of Lodge Eastern Star, Retired Federal Employees, the American Legion, the Marion County Historical Society, a 32nd Degree Mason , Blue Lodge, York RIte. Scottish Rite and a Masonic Instructor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Patricia) Bill of Fort Dodge and Marcia Leeper of Des Moines,one son John of Des Moines; six brothers. Roscoe and Richard of Knoxville, James of Harvey, Charles of Cresco, Paul of Altoona and Walter of Tinley Park, Ill; his grandmother, Sebbie Areo of Leon; two step-children, Bill Sarver of Oskaloosa and Shirley Endriss of Arvada Col; five step grandchildren; one step-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church Radio Ministry.
