Services for Rachel Florence (Beebout) DeWitt, who passed away Dec. 19, 1988, at Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 75, was held Dec. 22 at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. The Rev. K Wayne Hoehns officiated. Music was provided by Cheryl Anderson, pianist, and John Crawford, soloist.

Pallbearers were Jerry Witt, Marty DeWitt, Lee Roberts, Alvin Foster, Harlan Witt, Jr., Marvin Flanders, mark McClenning and Mike McClenning, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Smith, Doris Smith, Ross Speece, James Brown, Bill Kelderman, Leonard Langstraat, and Dick Darnell.
Arrangements were made by Bybee and Davis Funeral Home. The interment was in Graceland Cemetery.

She was born on December 16, 1913, in Marion County, the daughter of George and Zella Hall Beebout. She was married to Robert DeWitt on Aug. 2, 1942, and the couple farmed.

She taught elementary grades first in Winfield, West Des Moines, and Knoxville. They lived on a farm until moving to Knoxville in 1968.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville and the Homebuilders Sunday School class, Retired Teachers Association the Iowa State Educational Association, Knoxville Women's Club, Business and Professional Women the D.A.R. and H.O.A. Neighborhood Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Robert, two brothers Vear Hal Beebout and five half brothers and sisters.

She is survived by son Robert and daughter-in-law Diane of Iowa City; daughter Sue McClenning and son-in-law Michael of Bismarck, N.D. five grandchildren; one brother, Vance Beebout of Turlock, Calif; two sisters, Hazel Witt of Columbia and Marie West of Greeley, Colo.

Memorials have been designated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry of Knoxville.
