Phyllis (Oostrum) Austin, 83, died Friday, September 13, 2013 at HCI Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Private family services were held at the Masonic Mausoleum.
Phyllis was born June 29, 1930, in Oskaloosa and married Lloyd C. Austin on December 28, 1954, in Ottawa, IL. They made their home in Des Moines where they raised their two children and ran the family business in West Des Moines.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Kim (Joe) Gaston of Des Moines and John (Diane) Austin of West Des Moines; her grandchildren, John Reed, Kayla Austin, and Austin Gaston; and her sister, LaMertia Oostrum of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her husband.
